    Best Actual Play Podcast!
I wish I started listening when they were active, love the show. The editing, sounds and music are great and keep you immersed. The story is thoughtful and compelling from a large homebrew that has a life of its own. But you can’t have a top notch show without superb players, characters and DM. I love the whole cast because they are true to their characters. It’s fun listening to everyone interact and having fun playing with friends. I just about to finish the last episodes and had to make sure that it is known that all the effort was well worth it and can only hope they continue at some time because I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Love you guys and thanks!

    Loving it.
Started listening to this podcast at the end of January. Started on episode one. Now on episode 37. I don’t recall from my high school days when I was playing and dming (class of 1986) AD&D of it begin as fun as this group is having. I hope it just keeps getting better as it has so far. I will update this review when I catch up. Thanks Guys, Girl and cat. Stephen

This is my favorite D&D podcast
I really like it, five stars from me. Great dynamics between characters. I love the balance between fun lightheartedness and the more serious moments. Great story too developed well Just be prepared to not like Doroth (but that’s the point, at least at the start) (hence the four star rating)

Just started listening a few weeks ago
I was looking for another D&D live play podcast to listen to on my daily commute. This one has not disappointed yet! I’m on episode 24 and have a few years left to catch up on. I hope you’re still playing when I catch up!

    Superfan!
I have gone 3 and a half decades without experiencing d&d... now I have listened to four orbs every day for 4 months and it has hooked me unlike any pod I’ve tried! Hate that it took me so long to start... but so glad I finally did! Highly recommend!

Why is this podcast not more well known??
There are not alot of actual play podcasts out there that I think get this right. Four Orbs gets it right! I'm always looking for an actual play that's edited down to the good parts while still getting that fly on the wall experience. The quality roleplaying in this podcast is what I expect from DnD tables. The DM has obviously been working with this world for a long time and it shows with the history of each location in the adventure. This podcast is way underappreciated and I'm shocked to find they are not talked about more! The production quality steadily increases and I'm blown away by the big moments. By far, my favorite character is Keth the orc. I had a hard time with Dorith in the beginning, but he definitely gets finer with age. Fellamir, Finch, and Astra also are wonderful characters and help keep Dorith on the right track. If it wasn't for them, Dorith would cause I think too many problems. Dave weaves an excellent tale full of rich lore, complicated twists, and mystery built into the land that I would love to be one of his players. I'm jealous of the players having such a dedicated DM to giving them a fun experience. His editing and music just really brings you into the world. I had no clue four magical artifacts could create such an expansive universe. And on top of all this, I've never laughed so much in my life. You should be listening to this podcast!

Awesome story, table and production value
I listen to a lot of actual play podcasts and usually stick with the ones that stand out in one area. The highly produced casts usually feel less “real” at the table. The ones that are just a group recording their regular home sessions feel clunky and awkward and the comedy shows can barely feel like D&D at all sometimes. Four Orbs hits all the high notes. From the original music to a deeply immersive world to players feeling like friends at a table should. I’ve been with Dave and company since episode one and I’ve loved every minute of it.

    Thanos got my review
Love this podcast, but hate the iTunes app. I had a full detail review talking about the amazing characters, sound, and the fullness history of a fleshed out world. Clicked on the wrong spot and *BLIP* it disappeared into dust. Damnit... I need Dorth... he always makes things better!

One of the best podcasts I’ve listened too
This campaign has been a blast to listen to and got me started on playing dnd. I couldn’t recommend this enough! this is a super interesting home brew that obviously has so much passion put into it. Ps Lord Samuel William Drasgow would be an epic npc name! :-)

    Lively, imaginative, and Highly Encaging
A wonderful balance of depth and hilarity, combat and character, down-to-earth and extraordinary. The players and DM work together to weave a captivating tale that draws listeners in so well that it is difficult to pull away.

One of The Best DND Podcasts out there!
I’ll get right into it, what really is nice about this podcast is that it strikes a perfect balance between comedy and immersive storytelling. The world that Dan has created is unique and detailed. And the Players have good chemistry and know how to bounce of each other’s antics(including the DMs). They also know how to progress their development of each of their respective characters, I was worried that all of this would feel forced but thankfully it does not! I like the fact that not everything that the characters experience isn’t necessarily explained, and is left to the listener’s imagination. It reminds me of the storytelling/world building of the Dark Souls series quite frankly. The soundtrack is awesome too, and as a musician myself it’s awesome to see it add so much to an already great podcast! Thank you guys for this, currently I’m on episode 76, so I still have a ways to go!

    So happy I found them
This is a really awesome podcast. Characters are super fun and the story they tell feels real. I love how the fun they have gets translated to my listening experience. I just wish I didn’t have to wait for more!

    Four Orbs and 5 stars
This podcast is fantastic, the soundscape and talents of David behind the scenes truly enhances the experience and brings another layer of lifelike fantasticness that the players cannot quite replicate. However, the crew here is fantastic, the characters have a bunch of twists and turns throughout the various Acts to the point where you never know what will happen next. I cannot recommend this podcast enough if you enjoy a deep, fufilling story which keeps you guessing right up until the reveal of whatever it is is going on inside of David's head. Thanks again for all the hours of enjoyment, you guys are awesome!

    A wonderful and exciting journey!
This is my first ever D&D podcast after only consuming D&D in the form of livestreams. After getting used to the podcast format, I’ve grown to love Four Orbs! They have very lovable characters and an even more lovable cast of players. Together with their awesome DM Dave, they go on fun adventures performing all kinds of hilarious antics. The DM is an amazing storyteller and weaves his players into the story in very cool ways. He also does one-shots with other players that are not part of the regular cast that delve deeper into the lore of Aesis. The podcast has many cool moments and twists that have me nearly yelling out in public in pure excitement. All of this is neatly wrapped together with the fantasy music, which I absolutely adore, and great editing to cut out any silences or unnecessary parts, greatly improving the flow of the story. However, I do enjoy the outtakes they Include at the end of most episodes. All in all, I highly recommend this podcast. It is an absolute treat to listen to!

    As a fellow DM......
I personally have been listening to new Podcasts for DnD for a little bit now. Four Orbs was the first one I heard of outside of another one of my favorites called Not Another DnD Podcast. I am not completely caught up yet as I am writing this, however I will give Dave credit where credit is due. The reason I am able to get into Four Orbs as much as I have is because Dave thinks along the same lines I do as a DM. He wanted to create this vast world all on his own and bring his friends into this world to experience it for themselves. And the way he created this world is something to admire and appreciate. So Dave thank you and to your players for creating this fantastic world of yours. I hope to one day be able to work with you and your friends to create even more chaos and fun (but for my sake lets leave the darkness out of it ok? Im still having anxiety from it.) Lol!

    Pretty good!
Was looking for a new ttrpg podcast while tales from the glass guarded world is between seasons, and I’ve found a real gem in this podcast. (I’ll try not to spoil anything in this review by limiting my characterization to my general opinions.) The worldbuilding is consistently high-quality across dungeon design, historical lore, and npc circumstances/motives—all three can surprise you. Similarly, the characters are each distinct, well-developed, and interesting for the listener to follow. To me, this is the podcast that sounds most like a great, lively homebrew game between friends. All dnd podcasts invoke that gimmick to some extent, but this is the one that does it justice by taking it as a premise and being good enough to grow past it into an entertaining show. It takes an incredible amount of work to succeed with that premise. The long history of Aesis afforded by prior campaigns and the herculean efforts of DM Dave are part of it, but the work the players put into developing their characters and intra-party relationships is what turns this from a tour into a fully-fledged narrative with a surplus of *just excellent* moments. If you’ve heard the most popular shows and need a sleeper hit in your feed, take a listen!

    Among my favorite D&D podcasts
The world-building is solid af. The cast has wonderful rapport. There's an awesome balance of story and combat. It feels like a game my friends would play with all the joking, misery over terrible rolls, acting up when things get weird or awesome, awkward dialogue moments... all of it!l
  • Bearoderse
    Great storytelling
A great Dnd based podcast with a good mix of gameplay and storytelling. Enough dice rolling to keep it random and interesting, but so much storytelling and dialog it doesn’t feel like you’re watching a grindy combat session. So much awesome character development that makes you really care about the story and what happens to them.

    Top 5 d&d podcast
I am pretty picky about what actual plays I listen to. But man you guys have it ALL!! This show has made me laugh cry and just feel all the emotions. The story telling is top notch and I love the dedication to the characters. I have to say Finch is my favorite but you are all amazing! I am glad I stumbled onto this podcast caught up with all the episodes in about 2ish weeks been helping my days fly by at work. Can’t wait until you guys drop the next episode I am hooked

    One of the Best
I binged over 40 episodes in less than 2 weeks. That's how amazing this podcast is. It's got drama, action, suspense, mystery, suspense, and humor so perfectly balanced that it creates the most delicious full-course meal. Then there's the production. It's one of the best sounding podcasts out there. From the players and the GM to the sfx to the custom orchestrated music of their GM Dave Cole. A must listen to for anyone.

    Amazing experience
Month after month this podcast keeps me coming back for more. The players and DM are hilarious and when I’m listening I feel almost like I’m at the table with them at the edge of my seat watching everything unfold. When you start listening you’re diving into an adventure with twists, turns, comedy, tragedy, and a fair share of inside jokes that make you feel right at home.

    A fantasy adventure for everyone!
There’s something for everyone with The Four Orbs show. It’s a fully fleshed out world full of vile monsters, beautiful soundscapes, goofy NPCs and wonderful player characters. If you want something that draws you in to a fantastical DnD world, this podcast does just that. #ORBTIME

    Music and high adventure!
started listening from a preview to Ballad of the seven dice, this pod is awesome! Dave makes killer music and it makes everything feel so alive. I was on the edge of my seat when they were facing against the boss in the university but they thankkfully made it out, I was sweatin lol. The characters are a lot of fun and their dynamic works really well together, I want to see them do cross overs with other shows, i think it would be pretty fun. This pod needs to be one in your list, you should be listening to four orbs because the story is so good it should be novels, i would buy them! This show is super high quality and you won't find many like it, Dave puts in a lot of hardwork. If that doesn't make you want to listen then give their promo a listen, it got me interested
  • barberathebadger

  • Not Quite Heroes Podcast
Seriously one of the best out.
Dave and Co. are really putting out A+ material. Engaging and interesting PC's, hilarious and well, fleshed out NPC's, a twist on the system that lends to some potetnially dire scenarios, this pod really has and does it all. There are plenty of wild and serious moments, and there are moments you will cry laughing. Don't just take my word for it, look at all of these amazing 5-star reviews. Give it a shot, and I am positive you'll love it too. - Wade

    Fantastic!
I binged this podcast in a short time after my friends introduced me to it. The story flows and the people on the podcast seem to really enjoy what they are creating. The production quality grows as you listen and I can’t wait to see where it all lands. I’m all caught up and can’t wait for the next episode!

    I’m Hooked
Dave Cole does a great job of building an immersive world brimming with life and possibilities for the players. Once through the first few episodes of world building and lore, the story takes off at a break neck pace. If you’re not smiling by the time the Bullywugs show up, I’m pretty sure you don’t have a soul.

    Helping me play more games!
Dungeons and dragons has helped me light that creative fire I had as a child and Four Orbs throws a big ole (neatly stacked) pile of wood on that flame. Thanks for the inspiration to DM and play. And thanks for the countless hours of editing to tell a fantastic story.

Great campaign, DM and overall podcast
I don't usually write reviews but I just got caught up to the current episode over a month of long daily commutes and I fully feel like this podcast deserves a review. Now that I've caught up and I've started to look for other podcasts to fill the void, nothing can quite compare to the synergy in this group, in and out of character. Not many people can pull off a somehow-always-lovable half-orc all the time or an egotistical gnome bard while still being a decent guy out-of-character (i didn't like his character at first but he really grew on me in the second act). They're really good at keeping in character, almost to an audiodrama level (with some hilarious moments) and somehow they're never cringy - it's pretty miraculous. The cast's ability to avoid metagaming is also pretty top knotch and the players are pretty efficient in progression without ruining the mood, cheating in any way or being overly technical. They're a group of mature people who know how to play the game in a fun, productive way. Also, Dave's DMing ability is amazing. He crafted the world himself and somehow through all the questions he gets, he's never gotten frustrated, dismissed questions or not known the answer to stuff. He's an actually chill guy with a good sense of humor who really knows his stuff, and that's something a lot of other podcasts are missing. He makes it easy and fun to listen to without sacrificing the important feelings found only in DnD. Looking forward to waiting for new episodes with everybody else now :)

    Phenomenal Podcast!
Four Orbs is an incredibly fun real-play dungeons and dragons podcasts. The dungeon master, Dave, has crafted an entirely unique world in which the story takes place, and you take tell that he puts a crazy amount of effort into not only on what's pertinent to the game itself, but everything occurring behind the scenes, from the different nations, and factions and background lore of the entire game world itself. He also does the production for the episodes, composing the great musical themes heard throughout the podcast. The cast itself is very funny, and everyone has made me laugh out loud as I'm driving (getting some funny looks from other drivers in the process) multiple times. I highly recommend this podcast!

    The best podcast!
I had said this was the best d and d podcast. But it’s just the best podcast. Period. This podcast is awesome! Never having played dungeons and dragons, I didn't know what to expect. The story is incredibly well written. The host (Dungeon Master) has put some serious time and talent into creating an engaging and fascinating world. I find myself anxiously awaiting each new episode that comes out. I am hooked!! I would recommend this podcast to anyone who like science fiction, dungeons and dragons, great stories or just fun times. You will not be disappointed.

Great story, great music, great chemistry
I'm a pretty avid listener of actual play podcasts, and this is one of the ones that has kept ym interest. There have been quite a few that I have tried out and moved on from, but the sheer different-ness and how intersting their story and some of their home brew mechanics got me hooked. I know they've had some release schedule problems in the past, but thats something that comes from being all on your own as an indie podcaster. I love how they will do short side stories with guest characters. It mixes up the sound of their show while also expanding on other parts of the story. Dave also does the music for the show himself, which gives it a more original and custom tailored sound. My only gripe is that the other podcast ads they played have been the same the whole time, so they get repetitive, but it is such a small part of the show that I can't knock it down a star for that.

    Amazing
Its awesome to see what this world has turned in to. I remember tales of the Four Orbs years ago and now getting to hear the story as it unfolds is awesome. Quality of the audio is good, story is engaging, and the players are entertaining. Definitely worth a listen!

    Awesome
I adore this podcast ^^ it’s so funny and interesting and the party is great. Dave the DM weaves a great story
  • Ohthatssketchy
    10/10 would recommend
The world that Dave has created is absolutely fascinating. The vast amount of work that he has put into this homebrewed campaign is evident in his story telling while still being put through its paces with the added elements of chaos caused by the players and the random factor brought by the dice. Each episode leaves me on the edge of my seat eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story!

    First Review!
These guys really deserve my first podcast review. The characters are individual and entertaining! The story is soooo immersive! The world is fantastic! The gameplay is great! If you're a DnD regular or are just getting into it and podcasts related to it, this podcast is a great way to stay connected to the game while being greatly entertained.

    More Drow!
Four Orbs is such a fun Podcast. I am always eager to listen and learn where the merry band of companions are headed this week. There is a great mix of narrative, character development, action and laughs. Even for those that don’t have a background in D&D, the editing makes Four Orbs accessible as the listener doesn’t get bogged down in rolling dice for an hour. Aesis is an elaborate world that the DM has obviously put a lot of time and effort into creating. The music is also a great touch, setting the mood for each scene. My only critique…MORE DROW!
